Graphics Editing Tools
GIMP: This is a very powerful graphics/photo editing program and a great, free, open source alternative to adobe photoshop. The program supports file formats that range from JPEG (JFIF), GIF, PNG and TIFF to special use formats such as the multi-resolution and multi-color-depth Windows icon files.
The program does require some application to learn it's many features and capabilities but it's well worth the effort.

Paint.NET: This is a free full-featured image editing program for Windows PCs. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and lots powerful tools to work with.

Free Ebook Templates

An FTP program is a standard network protocol used to transfer your web site from your computer to your hosting account server to publish your web site on the Internet. I have used and tried several different programs both paid and free and the best one I have come across is:
FileZilla: This is an, open source software distributed free of charge under the terms of the GNU General Public License and is suitable for Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 are supported both 32 and 64 bit for each.
Installing the program is very easy. Just click on the link above select the Windows (recommended) button and in the window that appears select Save File and select the location you want to save the file to (your desktop is usually best so that you can find it easily).
Click on the program icon and follow the instructions. Once you have FileZilla installed you can then upload your website to your hosting account. Here's how to do it:

Content Management Platforms
Wordpress: Free, extremely versatile, fully customizable, self hosted Content Management System available either as a download for installation or as a one button install if your web host offers cPanel or something similar.
There are 1000's of free themes to choose from so you change look of your website to just about anything you want. Plus there are 1000's of free plugins available to extend and expand the functionality of your Wordpress web site. For more info check out this video introduction:

Blogger: Free blogging platform hosted by Google that allows multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. You will need to login to your Google account or sign up for an account if you do not already have one. Users can have up to 100 blogs per account. Find out more about Blogger here:

PayPal USA: Performs payment processing for online vendors, auction sites and other commercial users. Variable fees are charged for the service.
